The winners of the Open Fourball with an exceptional score of 51pts was John Hamill and Patrick Smyth just holding off the challenge of the experienced pair of Bernard Gilbane and Donal Guckian on 50pts in second place
Thursday 14th July 3 Person Scramble sponsored by Mac Electrics
This competition and format proved very popular and the scoring was again very good with the winning team of Kevin Friel, Ciaran Friel and Donal Guckian returning a score of 60.5 that included 5 birdies and an eagle with no dropped shots. In second place a fraction behind was a visiting team from Clones of Paul McKeown, Dwayne Rooney and Gerard O’Callaghan.
Friday Open Singles(GOY) sponsored by Monaghan Bottlers
The Friday singles was played in very windy conditions and resulted in scores in the seventies winning prizes with the winner John McQuaid shooting a brilliant 70 off a 4 handicap, second was a player in fine form Sean McGovern on 71 while in third was Mr President Sean Kilroy on 73 with the Gross going to Ryan O’Doherty with a excellent 74.
Saturday/Sunday Open Singles sponsored by Albert Berry Motors Monaghan
A large entry for the two day singles saw a big improvement in the scoring with another player who has been knocking on the door recently coming good when Darren McGill shot 42pts for outright victory, second on 40pts and making a truly welcome return to the winners enclosure was John Touhy while in third place also on 40pts was Finbar Heffernan. The Gross was won again by the very talented Ryan O’Doherty with a level par 36pts.
