Donal Guckian’s Ulster Cup team entertained Foyle Golf Club from Derry on Sunday and trailing by the score of five and a half matches to one and a half matches they faced an uphill task.Needing to win six of the seven matches at home the early signs were very good with all but one match ahead. Bernard Gilbane and Liam Mone won the first two matches out and hopes of a famous victory now looked on. Rossmore lost match 3 and match 4 ended all square. Now there was no more room for any slip ups but alas Foyle held on to record a fine victory and send Rossmore tumbling out of the competition for another year. The team and Captain Donal Guckian are bitterly disappointed as they felt they could go all the way this year but they have represented the club with pride and gave their all but had to give way to a better side at the weekend.
