New Year’s Day Drive In got off to a very damp start, but it did not deter those who wanted to blow away the cobwebs of 2013. There was a great turnout for the shotgun start of the 9 Hole New Year competition which went according to plan at 12noon. On returning to the Club House around 2 pm, most had now got a new lease of life and had appreciated the effort they had made on facing the elements. In top form on the day were Vice Captain Donal Guckian and Lady Vice Captain Patricia Mc Dermott who returned the days winning score.
Lady Captain Maria Mc Kenna and Captain Jim Fanning took to the 1st Tee at 3pm for the traditional Drive In and neither were at all intimidated by their surrounding audience. Both were in confident form and are looking forward to a successful year ahead. Best wishes to them both for their captaincy and there is no doubt with Lady Captain Maria around the Rossmore Club House will see many lively social evenings throughout the year.
