LADY CAPTAIN’S DAY AT ROSSMORE GOLF CLUB

Lady Captain’s Day is always a very popular event at Rossmore Golf Club and this year was no exception. Lady Captain Anne Lillis hosted her day on Saturday 14th August and made sure that the day’s golfing was safe and enjoyable for everyone. Fifty ladies competed in the 18 Hole Stroke competition with a further 20 ladies competing in the 9 Hole Stableford competition. During the week 80 men played in the 18 Hole Competition and the Lady Captain also hosted an 18 Hole competition for her invited guests as well as a 9 Hole competition for the men. Before teeing off the Lady Captain extended a warm welcome to the ladies and provided them with refreshments to ensure energy levels were maintained throughout the round. The ladies also enjoyed a refreshing drink at the ninth hole which provided a pep in their step as they headed out to play the back 9. Thankfully the rain held off for most of the day ensuring a pleasant game of golf for everyone.

Following completion of their round, the golfers enjoyed some tasty food in the restaurant and discussed the ups and downs of their game. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the Lady Captain’s dinner did not take place with the presentation of prizes proceeding outdoors near the first tee box. The Secretary, Mary Kelly commenced proceedings by welcoming all to the presentation, especially Lady Captain Anne’s family. She acknowledged the contribution Anne has made to Rossmore Ladies Club over the years, both as a committee member and as an accomplished player representing the club in team competitions. In her speech Lady Captain Anne had many people to thank. She thanked all who played – Ladies, Men and Guests. Thanks was also extended to the committee for their work. The Greens Staff were complimented on the beautiful condition of the course, under the guidance of Brendan Connolly and Karl Cassidy. The Get Into Golf was a success, due to the efforts of Shaun Donnelly and his assistant John. It was very ably co-ordinated by Ann Durnin. Lady Captain also expressed thanks to her family for their support. The presentation followed and the winners were congratulated. Due to Covid restrictions there was a small private dinner for family and guests of the Lady Captain.
