Eddie Scott struck a blow for the high handicappers when he emerged victorious in what is often referred to as the third major of the year at Rossmore last weekend. Eddie scored an impressive 40pts and his victory will no doubt inspire other high handicappers to more victories over the coming weeks. Eddie now becomes the proud holder of the Rita McKenna Memorial Trophy. One of the largest turnout of members to date this year took part in this competition to pay tribute to the late Rita McKenna who was a much respected member at the club. Captain Seamus Meehan presented the prizes before a full clubhouse. Second on 39pts was a new name to the winners enclosure in Paul Leonard who is a player with a big future in the game. In third place was Bertie Geary also on 39pts but spare a thought for Bertie who shot 45pts in a singles competition on Friday to reduce his handicap by 2 shots just one day too soon for this competition. The gross went to the very consistent Ciaran Lavery and the Junior Prize went to Cillian Lavelle who now features in the prizes almost on a weekly basis. The McKenna family are grateful to the members of Rossmore for their great support of this competition last weekend.
