Last weekend saw the very popular Sleator Cup singles and Golfer of the Year competition run over Sat and Sunday 15th and 16th June. This competition honours the late Johnny Sleator former Captain and the Sleator famly’s close association with Rossmore Golf Club. As predicted here last week a large entry took part and we witnessed the best scoring of the year. Paul Bennett claimed the winning prize with a splendid 64 to finish 2 shots clear of runner up Philip McBirney on 66 and third also on 66 was Jack Lee. Paul Bennett was overdue this singles success having shown good form in a number of team events over the past while. Good to see one of the younger brigade like Philip McBirney in the winners enclosure. Philip not long back from Australia is putting his good form down to his lessons from Dad Maurice.

The Gross was won by Rossmore;s most naturally gifted golfer in Dermot McCrystal with a very fine 72. Dermot managed to keep the younger members at bay with Conor Callan taking 2nd Gross with a 75.

The Junior Boys prize went to Rory Sleator with a 71 and the Junior Girls to Kate Dwyer on 69.
